Diego Ruiz | Co – Founder
Who I am?
Asturian from head to toe. I studied Commerce and Marketing at the University of Oviedo. And thanks to my communication skills I won the National Elevator Pitch Award for Public Speaking.
Hobbies?
Martial arts and spending hours on the skate enjoying the views of the city. Obviously as a good Asturian, the cider. And as a fan of Korean culture, I love Chimeac (치맥; Chicken + Beer).
Why Canada?
I always wanted to expand my level of studies and international experience so that I could one day teach communication classes to international students. For this reason, I am preparing to be a professor in a College while I continue helping people to come to live and improve their communication. I love living in Vancouver, as it is the birthplace of TED talks, in a country where you can also interact with people from all over the world as there is great respect for the intercultural community and equal opportunities.
How was Hands Abroad born?
My life purpose is to help people improve their communication through international experiences. For this reason, I developed a method to lose the fear of public speaking called Handstar Show since I am passionate about teaching communication. This part of my journey is when I met my friend Pedro in Vancouver and the idea for Hands Abroad Education to help other people achieve their personalized educational goals was born.
